The marble that is used to make these exquisite coffee tables is hand excavated from a North African quarry that borders the Sahara Desert.
2-3 times a year we take the long haul journey to Morocco to hand select the large pieces of marble that are used to create each piece of fossil marble furniture including these coffee tables, dining tables, side tables and exclusive board room tables.
The family that owns the factory have been uncovering these ancient fossils for over 3 generations. They are experts at naturally polishing the stone o reveal the organic beauty of the marble and the ancient fossilised treasures of the sea that are encased within.
This particular piece includes a number of large Ammonites with their spiral shaped shell - they were sea creatures similar to a squid that lived inside this shell. There is also large and small Belemnite fossils (the long thin shape) that are the internal shell of a sea creature like a mollusc and date back to the Devonian Period.
